Luna Labor Day Campout

We had a eventful and rewarding camping trip this year. We had every Luna attend and some awesome Beckmans (Steven, my brother's, in laws). Speaking of Steven, he and Melissa flew in from LA, it felt right; it was never the same without them. Lis and David came up from Cedar City and she is so cute pregnant and her belly is pretty small compared to all her pregnant girlfriends. Everyone else is close and we get to see them often, however it's nothing like camping with them. We get to goof around and play games and eat like pigs. Heaven. While we are there we go hiking, fishing, ride horses, play games; take naps and shoot guns at targets. We have a KOOB competition (if you don't know what that is we have to play it). Some of my favorite moments from this years trip are....
A bunch of us went on a hike and Gracie decided to turn it into a drill team competition. She ordered such commands as attention;"about hace"; and my favorite Airplane, Monkey, Solider. Guess she payed attention in swimming lessens. There are a couple pictures of a group doing actions, following her lead.

We went on a man hike, which is late at night, by yourself and with no flashlight. It sounds scary but surrounded by my protective brothers, it was a piece of cake. Every year we stay out late and talk and laugh and most importantly goof around...and it is normally orchestrated by my older brother Joey.

We had such diverse weather during the weekend. It was perfect and chilly the first days and then it started raining and finally there was snow. I have pictures of this in the slide show with the landscape pictures.

The last night we were inside the cabin playing guitar and singing. We took turns adding a verse to a blues song and I am here to report that Jake cheated and sang in chinese. I loved my dad asking for Neal Young "Knocking on Heavens Door" whenever there was a lull, I think we sang that song the most. My brothers were shocked that Jake and I sang the words to a Violent Femms song in front of my parents. My kids fell asleep in my mom's and Nathans lap and Mona, Davids dog fell asleep in his lap with her feet basically in the air. Joey performed his Neal Diamond version of the primary song "Popcorn Popping On the Apricot Tree."

Andrew and Gracie made best friends while we were there with the Beckman's grandkids and there was one moment that was truly a "Copper and Todd" moment from the Fox and Hound. The boys were holding hands (I was fortunate to capture that in a picture, it is in the slide show.) and Andrew said "you know my friends at home I don't miss them" and Skyler said "you my best friend" and Andrew said "you're My best friend." They have known each other for a day and it is so simple. Really it is that simple. Honestly, I guess, resign to make it that simple. It was so precious.

Finally, when Joey, David, Steven and I were little we used to spend about half our year at this camp. My dad works for the Boy Scouts. It was the best education and recreational exercise. I took a couple pictures of our cabin and the historic burnt down cabin that was our fort. Here are they are:
